This forum thread follows San Diego owner YETIX's ongoing work and trail use of his Land Rover Discovery 2, nicknamed Penny. Recent posts cover small fixes like wiper arms and driveshaft lubrication, a Terrafirma lift already fitted, a battery cable clamp repair, and a center console swap with an aftermarket switch plate, alongside plans for a bumper, roof rack, CDL work, and rust repair.

How it was done
Small maintenance items
YETIX replaced the wiper arms with ones found on Amazon that fit the original nozzle fittings and work better than factory D1 or D2 arms. He also used a narrow grease gun nozzle to finally lube the rear driveshaft Zerk fittings, and swapped the AirTag battery hidden in the truck.
Lift already fitted
In response to a question, YETIX confirmed the Discovery already runs a Terrafirma Medium Lift along with Terrafirma's front shock towers, and said he is happy with the ride quality for the price.
Battery cable fix
A loose, cracked positive battery cable clamp had been draining the battery since he got the truck, eventually leaving it dead while he was away. He fitted an Atlantic British clamp repair kit, which was straightforward, and installed a new battery.
Interior swap
YETIX replaced the cracked factory center console, whose window-switch tabs had all broken, with a better-condition one sourced from eBay, following a YouTube guide. While apart he also fitted a Golden Rovers aluminium switch plate. He lost the shifter boot sleeve (taped for now) and the parking brake lever became stuck, to be addressed later during a planned CDL cable swap.
Planned and pending work
Named next steps include a Safari Gard front bumper, a roof rack, a CDL (center differential lock) repair, swapping to an '04 SLAB, replacing C-pillar trim, and addressing rust around the alpine windows plus repainting the hood and roof, though a repaint quote came back costly and alternatives are being considered.
A summary in our own words. The full account, with all its detail, is in the original write-up: read it at 2000 Discovery 2 Kinversand "Build" and Adventure Thread ↗
