How it was done
Starting condition
The car arrived at the shop looking decent on the surface but needing rust repair before any modification of the body, drivetrain or suspension could begin. The crew began disassembly right away, finding rust at the radiator support, cowl, rear window area and A-pillar.
Teardown findings
Removing the glass revealed rust around the rear window. The engine and 5-speed transmission were pulled. A past repair to the floor was found to be poorly done, with plug welds missing in places and seat bracket welds skipped entirely, requiring correction.
Body and rust repair
New Dynacorn sheet metal panels were sourced for the car. Panels are stripped to bare metal and sprayed with two coats of SPI black epoxy. Rust repair has started on common trouble spots including the cowl and A-pillar, with floor and seat riser corrections also underway.
