Andy's Auto Body took in an already stripped and blasted RS3100 shell that was structurally sound for its rarity, and carried out fabrication repairs to the footwells and bulkhead before refinishing the car in its original colour. The write-up is useful for showing how a genuine RS wing was grafted to repair the passenger arch where no replacement panel exists.

How it was done
Starting condition
The RS3100 arrived already stripped and blasted, allowing immediate work on the roll-over jig. The shell was structurally good for its age, with only small rust holes in the usual areas, the footwells being the worst affected though still better than on some later Capris.
Fabrication repairs
Corroded steel was cut out and a strip welded to the floor ahead of fitting a replacement bulkhead panel. Two reclaimed footwell sections from other Capris were grafted together and welded into place. A bulkhead section had to be hand formed since no replacement panel is available for it.
Wing repair
A new old stock genuine RS3100 wing was available for the driver's side, so the passenger side RS arch was cut from the original wing and grafted into a standard replacement wing, finished with a small amount of filler so the repair is not noticeable.
Paint and finishing
Once fabrication was finished the shell was coated in two-pack primer inside and out, then resprayed in its original Stardust Silver throughout. The spoilers, boot lid and sills were repaired as needed and refinished in satin black. The car was to be reassembled by the owner, with hopes of appearing at Castle Combe in 2013.
